Ohio police investigating death of 6-month-old baby found unconscious in home

GUERNSEY COUNTY, Ohio, (WTRF) – The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 6-month-old baby who was found unresponsive and not breathing in a Senecaville home on June 27.

According to officials, paramedics, officers, detectives and an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper responded to the home after receiving the 911 call. First responders immediately began performing life-saving measures for the child.

Officials said the child was transported by United Ambulance to Ohio Health Southeastern Medical Center but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Guernsey County coroner requested an autopsy be performed at the Licking County coroner’s office. Ohio law requires an autopsy for any death of an otherwise healthy child under the age of two.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division reportedly obtained a search warrant for the home and collected evidence from the residence.

According to officials, the case is still active and awaits further investigation.
