1. She equaled a UEFA final record at just 16 years old!

At the age of 16, Shekiera Martinez equalled the record for most goals in a single UEFA final tournament, scoring nine times for Germany.

Competing in the 2018 UEFA Women’s Under-17 European Championship in Lithuania, she got off to a perfect start, scoring both goals in Germany’s 2-1 win over Finland in the group stage.

Martinez continued to impress in front of goal, scoring Germany’s first goal as they came back from two goals down in a 2-2 draw with the Netherlands. She then scored an eight-minute hat-trick as Germany beat hosts Lithuania 8-0, demonstrating her tireless scoring nature.

Unfortunately for the England U17 team, she wasn’t done there, hitting a hat-trick in the semi-final to send the Young Lionesses home. And despite failing to score in a 2-0 defeat to Spain in the final, she cemented her legacy as one of the most prolific strikers in the history of the UEFA tournament.

2. She reached another UEFA final in 2019

Shekiera Martinez was back in action for the Germany national team at the 2019 UEFA European U19 Championship finals in Scotland.

There she helped her country reach another final by scoring in a 3-1 victory over the Netherlands in the semi-finals in Glasgow.

However, Germany again fell just short in the final, taking a lead against France before losing 2-1 in Paisley.

3. She has played in the UEFA Women’s Champions League

At the age of 22, Shekiera Martinez has appeared in nine UEFA Women’s Champions League matches, scoring once and providing two assists.

Her goal came in her only start, firing home from ten yards to help Eintracht Frankfurt to a 5-0 group stage win over Swedish side Rosengård in January 2024.

Martinez is clearly a promising young player, who already has a strong international reputation and experience on one of football’s biggest stages.

4. She played in Germany’s top division for over a century

Still only 22, Shekiera Martinez has a bright future and has 116 matches in the Frauen Bundesliga to her name.

Martinez made her debut as a substitute for Eintracht Frankfurt at the age of 16 in a 3–0 Frauen Bundesliga win over 1. FC Köln on 18 February 2018. Her first starting appearance followed on 22 April in a 1–0 home defeat to 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam.

In total, she has scored 25 goals and provided seven assists in seven seasons for Frankfurt, using her blistering pace to top the league for key passes (2.08) and progressive passes (3.58) per 90 minutes.

She is positive in her attacking approach, always trying to engage her opponent and create a chance, and explains why she has been given the confidence to play at the highest level from such a young age.

In an interview with, she highlighted her speed as the key to her impressive goalscoring record, saying: “The Women’s Super League is an incredible competition and I want to challenge myself in England against the best teams. I am a fast player and I love I love to score goals. I hope I can help the team with my experience of playing in Germany and in the Champions League.”
