Company offers unofficial Windows 10 security patches through 2030 — Free, Pro and Enterprise plans

Windows 10 users who don’t want to upgrade to Windows 11 or pay Microsoft an obscurely priced Extended Security Update (ESU) subscription fee may be in luck: An alternative solution is available from “micropatch” provider 0Patch. This will be maintained until at least 2030. Like ESU that only provides security updates, 0Patch is a micropatch provider that targets multiple operating systems with faster security updates that can be applied directly to the operating system without rebooting, similar to the Hot Patching Update for Windows 11.

Now, it’s a bit unclear why 0Patch calls them micropatches. They appear to be regular old patches, even though they’re not provided by Microsoft. Microsoft’s security updates typically include the same fixes, if not more, but at a later date than 0Patch—and in rare cases, 0Patch is even allowed to point out bugs in the official patch.
