YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Diana R. Kommel, 78, of West City, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Hospice House, surrounded by family.

Diana was born on August 14, 1945 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Pete and Mary Jane Kelly, and had lived in the area her entire life.

She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Diana also worked in the catering industry for many years, providing joy and delicious meals at countless events.

A devoted member of the Saxon Club, Diana was President of the Saxon Retirees, where she was cherished for her leadership and camaraderie. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Diana is survived by her daughter Christine Sijak of Girard, her son Kelly (Stephanie) Kommel of Austintown, three grandchildren Andrew, Sydney and Jillian, and a brother Donald (Mary Ann) Kelly of Columbiana.

Her husband, Gary W. Kommel, whom she married on August 8, 1997, died unexpectedly on May 30, 2016.

Her brother, Chuck Kelly, also died before Diana.

Family and friends may call at Kinnick Funeral Home 477 N. Meridian Rd., Youngstown on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM where a memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM.

Burial will be private at Brunstetter Cemetery in Austintown.
