Sewer break in Fennville prompts warning to avoid physical contact

FENNVILLE, Mich. — Allegan County health officials are warning Fennville residents not to touch water coming from the Fennville-Billings storm drain.

We have learned that the no contact warning was issued after a main sewer break occurred near the intersection of Main and Maple Streets around noon on Monday.

We’re told the advisory covers the area from the south side of town to the M-89 (124e Avenue).

The Allegan County Health Department (ACHD) is urging residents to stay away from the water in the Pullman-Arnold Drain.

Health officials say an unknown amount of sewage is being diverted into the Fennville-Billing storm drain as crews repair the break.

People with possible symptoms of E. coli or gastrointestinal disease are encouraged to speak with their physicians. For answers to other related questions, contact ACHD at 269-673-5415 or [email protected].
