Halsey Teases Britney Spears With Song Sampling – Music News

Halsey teased her fans by sharing a snippet of a new song she wrote that samples a Britney Spears classic.

The singer surprised her followers when she posted footage of herself performing a cover song on social media on Monday.

The 29-year-old singer sported bright pink hair in the music video and wore a simple white T-shirt with the word “lucky” written on it.

Music fans immediately noticed that the accompanying soundtrack was a cover version of 42-year-old Britney’s 2000 song Lucky, a moderately paced pop song about a lonely actress.

Halsey shared the clip via her Instagram page, writing, “When I was 5, it always felt like Britney was singing directly to me. 24 years later, those words sound different. I love you forever.”

Halsey released a single last month titled The End, the first track from her upcoming fifth studio album.

Although the title of her next album has not yet been announced, fans are convinced it will be called For My Last Trick after seeing that the chart-topping star has registered an internet address with that name.

It will be her first album since her 2021 record, which was titled If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.

Halsey previously hinted that her fifth album would be emotionally charged, writing on Instagram last September, “I split myself in half every day so I can show you my deepest wounds (and a handful of perfect joys) for the fifth time in ten years.”

Britney released her ninth and final album, Glory, in 2016.

The star confirmed her departure in January, but flatly denied a report in Rolling Stone that she was working on a new album. However, she declared online: “I will never return to the music industry.”
