Four-star defensive back Maxwell Roy commits to Ohio State – Buckeye Sports Bulletin

Ohio State on Monday secured a new defensive line commitment from Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep four-star Maxwell Roy (6-3, 285), the 22nd commitment in the class of 2025 and the third interior defensive lineman.

He joins Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star London Merritt (6-3, 250) and Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star Trajen Odom on the interior, making Larry Johnson’s total five defensemen signed in this class.

Roy is currently the 229th prospect in the country, the 26th defensive lineman and the eighth best player in the state of Pennsylvania according to 247Sports rankings.

He chose the Buckeyes over Michigan and Rutgers, the only other two schools he officially visited in June. He comes from the same high school as 2025 three-star running back Isaiah West (5-11, 208), Kyle McCord and Marvin Harrison Jr.

It’s still possible the Buckeyes could add more players to the defensive line this cycle, as they’re likely to have a lot of veteran players leaving for the NFL after the season. They’re still targeting Auburn commit Opelika, Ala., four-star defensive lineman Malik Autry (6-6, 320), Indianapolis Warren Central four-star defensive end Damien Shanklin (6-4, 230) and Newberry, Fla., four-star defensive lineman Jarquez Carter (6-2, 284)
