How many tornadoes in Ohio 2024

HURON COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) — As storms battered much of Northeast Ohio on Saturday, leaving thousands of residents without power, the National Weather Service announced that a tornado briefly touched down in Huron County.

The tornado, rated EF-0, is the lowest in the tornado classifications. It reportedly touched down in a cornfield near Lisa Lane and Egypt Road in Willard.

“Several branches on the tree were bent and one branch was impaled on the ground,” NWS said in a report.

The tornado touched down at 11:02 a.m. and no one was injured. However, the tornado did help break an Ohio record.

“Willard Tornado broke the record with the 63rd tornado to touch down in Ohio, surpassing the previous record of 62 set in 1992,” NWS Cleveland said on social media, and it’s only July.
