VADOC Conducts Drug and Contraband Enforcement at Lawrenceville Correctional Center

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — On Friday, June 14, the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) conducted a drug and contraband bust at the Lawrenceville Correctional Center.

According to VADOC, members of the correctional team conducted a drug and contraband sweep at the Lawrenceville Correctional Center to enhance security.


During this operation, VADOC team members found:

  • Approximately 100 Buprenorphine strips
  • Three packages of a powdery white substance
  • Multiple pills
  • An unknown, powdery substance
  • Multiple mobile phones
  • Various phone charging blocks
  • Phone charging cables
  • An unknown amount of cash

Lawrenceville Correctional Center is the only privately owned prison in Virginia, but VADOC will take over control of the facility starting August 1, 2024.

The Virginia Department of Corrections said it will continue to monitor the ingestion of contraband at all of its facilities. If anyone has information, call 540-830-9280.
