Charlottetown, PE – A competitive field of harness racing headlines the program on Thursday night (July 4) at the Red Shores Racetrack & Casino in the Charlottetown Riding Park. Post time is 6:00 PM.

Trainer Jennifer Doyle will send three runners out to the showdown in Race 9, including last week’s winner Jessiejesorjessica, who won by a length from Irish Ray in 1:58.1 ahead of David Dowling.

While Dowling competes in the National Driving Championship in Quebec on Friday, Adam Merner will get his first ride on the mare, a 46-race lifetime winner owned by Danny Birt of Vernon Bridge, PE. Birt and Doyle also have New Legacy (Damien MacLellan) and Glider Man (Myles Heffernan) in the race scheduled for 8:24 p.m.

Irish Ray is the 5-2 choice on the morning line from post 3 with Marc Campbell handling riding duties for his son Landon, who trains the former stakes superstar for Fred MacDonald, Cornwall, PE. The son of Muscle through it is looking for his first victory in his four-year-old campaign. Peter MacPhee, author of Post Time Picks, thinks he can do it on Thursday.

“He was put on the bike and raced great but just missed by the skin of his teeth,” MacPhee wrote. “We think Marc will put his foot down from here and if he takes the lead it could be the night he flips the script.” Majian Tango, Windemeredontuworry and Labero complete the field.

The headliner of the evening is race 10, with Share The Moment as the top candidate.

With Gilles Barrieau now committed to Ron Matheson’s railsitter Outrageous Style, trainer Bo Ford has signed Marc Campbell to ride for the ownership team of Luke Beck, Scott Bridges and Arnold Myers. The mare is 2-1-3 in the top three from 10 starts.

Mrs. Moyse (Merner) also has a chance to top the series in the final daily double for trainer Melissa Rennie. The seven-year-old mare makes her 7e start of the season for owners Olivia May, Quaid Hately, Andrew Cameron, Charlottetown, PE.
