Nickel-free Austenitic Stainless Steel: IIT-BHU signs MoU for studies on Nickel-free Austenitic Stainless Steel | Varanasi News

Varanasi: An MoU was signed between IIT-BHU Varanasi and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd, Hyderabad on Tuesday for clinical trials of nickel-free austenitic stainless steel developed by the institute for medical applications. On the occasion, IIT-BHU Director Prof Amit Patra and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (MIDHANI) Chairman and Managing Director Sanjay Kumar Jha exchanged views and discussed the future roadmap for long-term collaboration between the two organisations. “This MoU not only marks a formal agreement but also embodies the spirit of collaboration and innovation that defines our respective organisations,” Jha said. Talking about the technology, G.S. Mahobia, the inventor of the ‘nickel-free’ austenitic stainless steel for medical applications, said the MoU represents a mutual commitment to serve the people of India. It will be a contribution towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Make in India and Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiatives. IIT-BHU Dean (R&D) Prof Vikash Dubey also spoke. The objectives of the MoU are to produce and process nickel-free austenitic stainless steel in desired form for orthopaedic implant manufacturing at MIDHANI for the studies to ensure mutual exchange of scientific information and literature, complete clinical human trials as per the guidelines of CDSCO, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare by MIDHANI. All required regulatory approvals will be the responsibility of MIDHANI.
