Inquire with Vigo County Commissioner on Cybersecurity Amid Nearby Attacks | WIBQ The Talk Station

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– In light of the several cyberattacks that have recently occurred in the Hoosier State, we reached out to Vigo County to ask about precautions.

The county’s IT team said the county invested in incident response procedures and improved security after a ransomware attack in 2019. While nothing can protect a county 100 percent, they are ensuring the community is focused on the health and security of county data.

“We’ve done training. We’ve tried to maintain a cautious mindset when bringing an employee on board, because there’s a lot of lives at stake, their information at stake, things like that. Those things can get very costly, so we’ve taken really good precautions.”

Commissioner Switzer adds that fortunately the province of Vigo has only been hit by a cyber attack once in recent decades.
