ITI Mokokchung undertakes major renovation project, announces new admissions for 2024-2025/26 Mokokchung

In an inspiring act of solidarity and dedication, the employees and interns of Government ITI Mokokchung have undertaken a commendable welfare project to renovate and renew their institute. Prompted by the challenges during the rainy season such as floor and roof leakage issues that hampered the smooth running of classes, the decision was taken to undertake this project.

The director, T Imlisunep Ao, and the entire community of the institute came together to come up with a comprehensive action plan. They voluntarily contributed funds to the repair and renovation work, including pouring concrete slabs, painting and electrical upgrades. The interns also showed their dedication by making generous monetary donations and providing practical physical assistance.

“We are truly delighted to have been given the opportunity to contribute to improving the working environment of our institute,” said the director.

The workers and interns have been working for three full days since July 8th and expect the work to take about ten days, including further painting and electrification. The director indicated that they have been suffering from these problems for 7 to 8 years. On day 4, a day off will be declared to facilitate the cleaning of the walls, washing of the classrooms and starting the painting and repair process of the walls.

A total of 115 interns and 27 workers contributed daily while also attending classes. The interns helped the workers in transporting roofing materials, sand and more. About 2 inches of roof repair, covering an area of about 2500+ sqft, has been completed to manage water leakage, while drainage lines are being laid for proper water flow, the director informed.

The Director informed that about Rs 1.4 lakh had been used for the repair work. The Industrial Training Institute Mokokchung, Nagaland, was established in 2005 and is located 4 km away from the main police station of Mokokchung Town. It has trained about 1200 students, excluding the present trainees, and offers six subjects: Electrician, Electronics, Stenography, Computer, Civil and Mechanics for class 10 and above (1/2 year course). Short courses (3 months) are also available for class 8 and above, without any fees.

Principal Imlisunep Ao stressed the importance of vocational training, stating that the skills acquired are very useful and employability is positive if one is dedicated and hardworking. He noted that along with a degree, having skills makes life easier, stressing the need for skills in today’s world.
