Former Google Senior Executive Caesar Sengupta recently spotted GPay tap sensors at the gates of the London Underground. He shared the “cheap thrill” of finding this payment option in London Tube on X (formerly Twitter). His excitement is understandable, as he was one of the key people behind the launch of Google Pay in India. However, netizens were quick to remind him that Google Pay works very differently in both countries.



Former Google Pay CEO Spots GPay on London Underground

Former Google Senior Executive Caesar Sengupta took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the “cheap thrill” of finding GPay at every London Underground gate. His enthusiasm stems from the fact that he was one of the core team members that successfully launched Google Pay in India. Not only that, he was also on the team that successfully relaunched the app in the US and Singapore. Currently, 150 million users across 42 countries use Google Pay.

Caesar Sengupta left Google in 2021, after working for the company for over 15 years! In his X (formerly Twitter) post, he said, “GPay at all London Underground gates! Cheap thrills. @GooglePayIndia has come a long way since it was launched as Tez in India.”
