Five free events to enjoy in Dublin this summer

Looking for a fun way to meet friends outside the pub and are ready to see or do something different? Here is a selection of free events happening in Dublin soon.

Summer Evenings, Meeting House Square

With the support of Dublin City Council’s Night-Time Advisor and local businesses, The Temple Bar Company is proud to present a series of music, dance and spoken word events at Meeting House Square throughout July and August.

Starting on Wednesday, July 17, the four-week musical spectacle is designed to celebrate diverse genres of music, dance and spoken word.

Summer Nights 2024 will provide a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents, fostering a vibrant community of music lovers. There will also be food and craft vendors on Meeting House Square every Wednesday from 3pm to 10pm.

Summer Nights at Meeting House Square is free, no tickets are required and no alcohol is served.

Free comedy shows, sin É

Crash & Burn Comedy is a free stand-up show held every Thursday at Sin É on Ormond Quay. Featuring regular hosts Michael Sable and Nghia Mai, the show welcomes both seasoned veterans and up-and-coming acts to try out their jokes.

Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm.

Outdoor sports in Fingal

Fingal ParkFit is an outdoor exercise program designed to promote health and wellbeing in the community

This free 10-week program starts in July and offers a variety of free classes in Fingal’s beautiful parks and green spaces.

Whatever your fitness level, Fingal has skilled instructors who will guide participants through each workout at 15 locations, aiming to make fitness accessible to everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.

Brendan, a participant on last year’s programme, said: “Fingal ParkFit is a fantastic way for me to stay active and meet new friends. The instructors are motivating and the parks provide a beautiful environment to exercise in.”

Summer Sessions, Harcourt Bar & Gardens

Relive the 80s, 90s and 00s every Saturday afternoon throughout the summer at Harcourt Bar & Garden Summer Sessions. These fun nostalgic events take place every Saturday from 3:30pm to 6pm.

From Whitney Houston to Britney Spears, DJ Succulent will be serving up the best tunes from every decade, so grab your friends and show off your best dance moves during the day. Tickets for the summer sessions are free, all you need to do is reserve your spot.

Summer in Dublin

From July 7 to August 25, various activities in the field of art, culture, music and performances are organized on Sundays for both locals and visitors.

There will be brass bands, samba and street performers. The streets of Dublin will be filled with musicians, with pop-up performances on Liffey Street, Capel Street and North Earl Street at the Portal.

From the New Orleans-style New Brass Kings to the traditional band Sin a Deir Sí and the Latin American group Havana Club Trio, complemented by Irish and Latin American dancers and aerial acrobats: there is something for everyone.

Also featuring will be artists such as Sarah Fitzsimon, Adam Grimes, Sam Clifford and many more.
