Sheriff’s Office Surprises Residents With Kroger Gift Cards During Christmas in July Initiative – BG Independent News

From the Wood County Sheriff’s Office

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Kroger, Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office, and the state of Virginia (Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office) and Michigan (Genesee County Sheriff’s Office), announced the launch of “Santa on Patrol” to celebrate “Christmas in July” on Saturday, July 13. This initiative is designed to bring the community together and spread joy by surprising residents with a gift card to Kroger. This initiative brings together three Kroger departments and four sheriff’s offices, united in the goal of giving back to the communities they live in and serve every day.

During the event, sheriff’s deputies will identify residents and give them a Kroger gift card to use at their local Kroger store.

“The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is excited to partner with Kroger to celebrate Christmas in July, said Wood County Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn. “This is a great example of Kroger and the Sheriff’s Office working together to have a positive interaction with the public. We are happy to help and serve our community!”

“Working with and for our communities is a privilege every law enforcement officer enjoys, and when you can give back to those you serve in other ways, it’s amplified,” said Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office Mark Hilton. “The Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office is proud to partner with Kroger for a giveaway that’s only fitting for ‘Christmas in July.’ This is an incredible example of a trusted local business, Kroger, and the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office coming together to give back to the community we both proudly serve.”

“Santa on Patrol is all about bringing the community together and partnering with local sheriffs to surprise and delight,” said Mark Bruce, corporate affairs manager for Kroger’s Columbus Division. “By replacing minor violations with a gift card to Kroger, we want to spread joy and show our shared commitment to the communities we serve.”

This initiative is not only intended to put a smile on the faces of those who receive the gift cards, but it also highlights the importance of community involvement and collaboration between local businesses and law enforcement. By working together, Kroger and local sheriffs hope to create a positive impact and foster a sense of unity within the community.
