Tempo Driver Uniform and ID Card Rules Not Enforced in Jamshedpur

Police criticized for lax implementation of security measures

The government’s repeated attempts fail to ensure driver compliance.

JAMSHEDPUR – Enforcement of uniform and identity card requirements for tempo drivers in Jamshedpur continues to falter despite repeated administrative orders.

“Tempo drivers are not following safety rules properly,” said Senior SP Kishore Kaushal at a recent road safety meeting.

Key issues include:

– Inconsistent wearing of the mandatory blue uniforms

– Failure to obtain and show identity cards

– Perceived apathy among traffic police in enforcing rules

A brief period of compliance was noted in 2021, but the initiative was short-lived.

“Uniforms and ID cards make driver identification easier and prevent unauthorized actions,” said a traffic official.

The Sakchi tempo position was specifically targeted for enforcement in recent guidelines.

Ongoing challenges prevent these safety measures from being adhered to on an ongoing basis.

The community is confused by the fact that these orders are repeatedly not being carried out.

This situation underscores the continuing problems in effectively regulating tempo operations in Jamshedpur.

The lack of enforcement raises concerns about passenger safety and driver responsibility.
