Severe storms leave thousands without power in northeast Ohio
Severe storms destroyed power lines, causing widespread outages in northern Ohio. According to FirstEnergy, more than 340,000 homes are still without power.
Nearly 300,000 homes and businesses in northeast Ohio were without power Wednesday morning after severe storms, including possible tornadoes, hit the region and downed power lines.
As of 10:15 a.m. ET, 334,000 customers were affected by widespread outages.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland said Wednesday morning that it was sending teams to assess the “significant damage caused by yesterday’s storm.”
NWS meteorologists also urged the public to report any damage or flooding.
Late Tuesday afternoon, the NWS issued tornado warnings for the Masury, Brookfield and Yankee Lake areas. The storm system had previously issued tornado warnings for locations around Cleveland, including Parma, Euclid and Shaker Heights.

The weather forecast for Wednesday for the region called for mostly cloudy skies, with some possible periods of sunshine.
According to the NWS, temperatures will be slightly cooler, reaching highs between 77 and 85 degrees.
