An Appalachian State University football practice recently ended in chaos when a player ripped the helmet off his teammate’s head and hit him with it – the entire ordeal was caught on video.
Check it out… footage posted online of an App State summer practice shows the team playing 11-on-11 — when a pass rusher in a black jersey with the number 12 faces a blocker in a white jersey with the number 73.

You can see the two of them shoving each other a bit… before the guy in the black jersey loses his temper. He grabs his teammate’s face mask and pulls so hard that the headgear falls off. The defender then violently smacks his opponent’s head with his helmet.
In a statement to TMZ Sports … the school declined to identify the attacker, but noted that disciplinary action would be taken against the player internally.
“This behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated in the App State football program,” said head coach Shawn Clark said.
The incident reminds people of the events between Michael Garrett And Mason Rudolph in November 2019 – when Garrett ripped Rudolph’s helmet off his head and swung it over his head.

The latest incident reflects poorly on the Mountaineers program, which is coming off a strong 2023 season. The team finished with a record of 9-5 — and second overall in the Sunbelt East Division. The team also picked up one postseason win… winning the Avocados From Mexico Cure Bowl.
