Sunday’s women’s basketball gold medal game will have a David versus Goliath feel as the United States and France face off.
The Americans have the makings of a well-oiled machine, having scored 31 assists to beat Australia by 21 points in the semifinals. They have won all five games by double-digit margins, with the smallest margin being 13 points.
This is nothing new for them on the international stage, of course. Team USA has won gold in women’s basketball at seven consecutive Summer Games. In fact, they have won their last 60 Olympic Games.
France, on the other hand, has won two medals, and never more than silver. But the French have the home-court advantage and former UConn All-American Gabby Williams, who scored a team-high 18 points in the semifinal win.
Here’s everything you need to know about Teams USA and France’s battle for the gold medal.
