Drake is the most active at the moment. The rapper has started a second Instagram account with memes aimed at other rappers. He has also released an incredible 100GB of new and unreleased material. Fans are still sifting through it all, but Charlamagne Tha God sees the bigger picture. At least, he claims to see it. The radio host has taken to The Breakfast Club on Wednesday and suggested that Drake’s drop is much more calculated than it seems. He also claimed that the new material is intended for an upcoming album.
Charlamagne tha God felt that Drake failed to play to his strengths by staging a seemingly “organic” drop. Given what the radio host and the general public know about Drizzy, everything he does is planned. “That’s the problem, right. Drake just does stuff,” Charlamagne Tha God explained. “There’s no direction. He tries to make it look organic, like it’s nothing, like it’s effortless.” Especially, in Charlamagne’s opinion, when the endgame is so obvious. He feels like Drake is trying to gauge public interest in him after the disastrous fight with Kendrick Lamar. “This is clearly a rollout,” the host explained. “He’s venturing out into the water. He wants to see what people think of him.”
Charlamagne Tha God believes Drake piques fans’ interest
Charlamagne tha God is right about Drake “just doing stuff.” The Toronto rapper has been teasing many different projects throughout July. So many, in fact, that it’s hard to keep track. He’s got unreleased songs with Conductor Williams on the way. He’s got the trio of songs he just dropped with Young Thug, Latto, and 21 Savage. Drizzy also has a collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR due out in the fall. Not enough? How about a rumored European tour that alludes to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss? In his 100GB drop, the 6 God posted merch titled “No One Likes Us 2024.”
Charlamagne tha God assured Drake that fans would be receptive. “Drake, you’re OK,” he said on air. “You’re being yourself today.” This isn’t the first time the radio host has had kind words for Drizzy. Despite calling him the loser of the Kendrick Lamar battle, Charlamagne thought Drake did a great job. “To me, that was the best rap battle I’ve ever seen,” he said in May. “I mean, the two best of their generation in their prime. I’ve never seen a rap battle give us so much music.” Time will tell if the prediction comes true.
