Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown will be out for a while after injuring his shoulder in a loss to the Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (KWCH) – Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offensive linemen completed a field goal drive on their only series of the night as Kansas City lost 26-13 to Jacksonville in their preseason opener on Saturday.

Mahomes completed 3 of 4 passes for 29 yards, while Isiah Pacheco received a pass and completed a 16-yard run that led to Harrison Butker’s field goal. Butker, who had just signed the most lucrative kicker deal in NFL history, went 2 of 2.

However, on the opening play of the game, Hollywood Brown fell on his left shoulder after being tackled after making a catch and immediately left the game. He did not return and Andy Reid announced that he suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. Reid said he was being treated at a local hospital and will be “out for some time” going forward.

It’s the same injury Tyreek Hill suffered in Jacksonville in 2019 that cost him four games. The injury will jeopardize Brown’s availability for Week 1 on Sept. 5.

Chris Oladokun was the Chiefs’ best passer, completing 7 of 10 passes for 85 yards and adding 10 rushing yards.

Nikko Remigio was the Chiefs’ best player with 3 catches for 35 yards. Carson Steele ran the ball 4 times for 29 yards and scored the team’s only touchdown.

First-round pick Xavier Worthy started but was not used.

The Chiefs also conceded a safety during the new version of the “dynamic” kickoff. Jacksonville also returned a kick 74 yards.

The Chiefs return to St. Joseph for training camp on Monday before playing their second preseason game against the Lions at 3 p.m. Saturday at Arrowhead.
