Coplay Auto Repair is scheduled to reopen later this month after the Herstine family purchased the shop from former owner Michael Dopsovic, who retired and closed the business.
Antonia Trigiani of Lehigh Financial Group LLC in Allentown arranged the SBA loan that enabled Jeffrey Herstine and his sons Zachary and Brian to purchase the auto repair shop at 3 North Second St, Coplay.
The family plans to make minor changes to the 2,000-square-foot building before it reopens in the last week of August, Lehigh Financial Group said. The purchase price was not disclosed.
All three family members have extensive experience in the auto repair business, Lehigh Financial Group said. Jeffrey Herstine, of Bath, has been an auto mechanic since he was 16 and a Toyota-certified Master Diagnostic Technician since 1996. Zachary and Brian Herstine have also been tinkering with cars since they were young and have worked as auto mechanics for area car dealerships, the real estate firm said. Zachary and Brian were also in the U.S. Marines, where they worked on all kinds of equipment and vehicles and honed their leadership skills.
Jeffrey Herstine has long dreamed of opening an independent auto repair shop with his sons, and when they saw that Dopsovic was retiring after 18 years and wanted to sell his business, they saw it as “the perfect opportunity,” Zachary Herstine said.
Trigiani said the seller and buyers are “really great people” and she is thrilled to be able to make this deal happen for them.
