Drake reveals everything about his song about Serena Williams

Drizzy delighted his fans for days when he released three new songs and 100 gigabytes of previously unreleased footage to the website 100gigs.org on Tuesday (August 6). One of the clips shows Aubrey playing new music for his mother, Sandi Graham, in the studio in 2016. The clip, which you can see below, features the song “Too Good” featuring Rihanna.

“I’ll take a few joints, but this is more about me and Serena,” Drake tells his mother.

Sandi replies, “I thought so,” which makes Drake giggle.

Drake continues, “It’s funny because when I write songs about women, I also write songs for them. So I know what kind of song… If I’m talking about them, I can at least do them justice by writing a song that they like. I know Serena very well and I know she’s going to hear it loud and clear. But she’s also not going to hate me for it because it’s lighthearted.”

“Too Good” appeared on Drake’s 2016 Views Album. In the dance track, Drake sings about a broken relationship.

“Listen, I don’t know how to talk to you/I don’t know how to ask you if you’re OK/My friends always feel the need to tell me things/They just seem happier than us these days, yeah,” Drake rhymes. “Lately, I don’t know how to talk to you/I don’t know how to be there for you when you need me/It feels like you only see me/When you turn your head to the side and look at me different, yeah.”

Many fans thought the song was about Rihanna since she and Drake have also been together in the past and she is featured in the song.

Drake and Serena Williams’ previous relationship

Rumors of a relationship between Drake and Serena Williams began in 2011 when he started attending her tennis matches. The following year, Drake and Common got into a well-publicized feud that centered around the two rappers’ love for the tennis star. In 2015, Drake and Serena were filmed making out. By 2017, their affair seemed to be over.

In 2022, Drake mentioned Serena on the Your loss Track “Middle of the Ocean” and referenced her husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

“I swear you don’t even mean what you’re saying, like you’re dubbing a movie/Side note, Serena, your man is a groupie,” Drake raps in the song. “He claims we ain’t got a problem, but/No, boo, it’s like you come eat sushi/We can show up at will, like Suzuki.”

Alexis Ohanian was honorable in his response. “The reason I always win is because I relentlessly strive to be the absolute best at everything I do – including being the best groupie for my wife and daughter,” Ohanian wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
