drake just confirmed a long-suspected theory about one of his hits… as the rapper released never-before-seen footage from the studio.
The hitmaker released a ton of archival footage from over the years… including a telling video in which he makes a major confession about his 2016 anthem, “Too Good.” Rihanna.
Watch the video… as Drake tells his mom – who isn’t pictured – that he wrote the song with his former flame. Serena Williams in the back of my mind.
While his mother questions the song’s intention – it’s about being “too good” for a lover – Drake defends himself by saying that he wrote the song both about the tennis champion… and for her.
He adds: “If I’m going to talk about (women), I’m going to at least do them justice by playing them a song they like. So I know Serena very well and I know she’s going to hear it loud and clear.”
Drake doesn’t think Serena will “hate” him for the single because it’s lighthearted.
Drake’s mother seems to tease her son a little during the conversation, reminding him that Serena has already moved on to someone else… probably referring to SW’s relationship with her future husband Alexis Ohanianwith whom she has been together since 2015.
TMZ has uncovered the story … longtime friends Serena and Drake were confirmed as a couple after they caught biting lips at a restaurant in Cincinnati. They quickly became inseparable, attending everything from New York Fashion Week to restaurant openings.
However, the relationship ended just as quickly as it had gained momentum… because by the end of 2016, Serena was engaged to Alexis.
Hey, at least Drake got some good song material out of it.
