Drake may have confirmed years of rumors that he dated Serena Williams in the past after the Canadian rapper released a ton of previously unreleased footage in which he can be heard admitting that his song “Too Good” was dedicated to the American tennis legend.
In case you forgot, Drake was spotted in the stands watching and cheering on Williams during her victorious Wimbledon run in 2015. Two months later, Williams won the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, and later she and Drake were photographed kissing at a restaurant while celebrating their victory.
However, by the end of the year, rumors began to circulate that the two were no longer a couple. Then, in April 2016, Drake released his fourth studio album titled “Views” and a song from his album caught attention as many believed the lyrics of the song were dedicated to Williams.
In the old footage, released just this week, Drake can be heard being questioned by his mother about the hit song “Too Good,” and her mother confirms that the girl is indeed Williams.

“If I’m going to talk about (women), I’m going to at least do them justice by writing them a song that they like. So I know Serena very well and I know she’s going to hear it loud and clear,” Drake said in the video.
The lyrics in Drake’s song about Williams
“I’m too good to you/I’m way too good to you/You take my love for granted/I just don’t get it/No, I’m too good to you/I’m way too good to you/You take my love for granted/I just don’t get it/I don’t know how to talk to you/All I know is that I feel lost with you/Lately you’ve just been making me work too hard for you/You put me on flights overseas and I still can’t get a hold of you.”
Meanwhile, shortly after the Cincinnati scene with Drake in 2015, Williams began dating her now-husband Alexis Ohanian, and the two now have children together.
