Duke regains free access to GoTriangle buses after reintroducing GoPass program

The Duke community regains access to free bus rides in the Triangle through the GoPass program.

GoPass previously provided free access to GoTriangle buses serving Durham, Orange and Wake counties for university, faculty and health system staff, but the program’s future became uncertain after the service ended its COVID-era free rider program in July.

Now Duke Parking and Transportation has reinstated GoPass for all community members with a Duke NetID and a Duke email address.

GoPass offers free access to all GoTriangle and GoRaleigh buses. GoDurham and GoCary buses are free for all passengers until 2025 and no passes are required.

GoTriangle partners with fare payment app Umo and the Blue Devils can get their GoPass by requesting an Umo code.

GoPass holders can use the Umo mobile app or request a physical Umo GoPass card for bus access. The card costs $5 and can be picked up at the Regional Transit Center pass sales office. Users can have a card mailed to them for $6 by calling the Regional Information Center at (919) 485-7433.

Passengers can view active bus routes via the GoTriangle Trip Planner.

Duke Parking and Transportation offers numerous additional alternative transportation options, including carpooling and vanpool services.
