Stoked is the latest edition of the Morean Center for Clay’s annual member exhibition. This exhibition showcases the work of the many artists who work in our studio. As the largest clay center in the Southeastern United States, we are proud of the diverse collection of work created here. Since 2001, our historic train station has sparked the creativity of countless artists. Despite the unique style and interest of each individual who gathers here, the shared passion for clay, the free flow of ideas, and the potential of this special place leave a lasting impression on all.
Ceramics is an art form like no other. But most importantly, it requires a community that fosters camaraderie and growth. The artists here share not only a workspace, but also a desire to honor the tradition of clay, push the boundaries of the medium, and pass on their knowledge to the next generation. They share not only studios and kilns, but ideas, techniques, and support. This exhibition is a testament to their individual ambitions, as well as the possibilities of a motivated community.
Stoked celebrates the results of hard work, heart and soul. It’s about projects that last; it’s about creating a warm and welcoming place for so many people. Even though we’re all on our own personal journeys, the Morean Center for Clay is an important stop along the way. We’ll meet at the train station.
