Google Photos is about to undergo a major restructure, and there are plenty of changes coming. Recent reports suggest that the video editor could get a sleek new interface and options to adjust playback speed. There could also be new features to make sharing photos easy, and a cool Memories tool to make editing older shots easier. Quite a lot, right? But that’s not all.
Finding what you’re looking for in Google Photos is now easier
In Google Photos version 6.94, newly discovered code strings hint at two upcoming search filters: “Recent” and “Best Match.” The “Recent” filter, as expected, sorts your search results by date and shows your most recent photos first. The “Best Match” filter refines your search results to show images that actually match your query. Currently, if you search for “flower” in Google Photos, you might be shown a bunch of images that have nothing to do with flowers. With the “Best Match” filter, the app cuts out the irrelevant shots and only shows you photos that contain flowers, as seen in the screenshots.

Google isn’t just limiting itself to new search filters. The tech giant is also planning to make albums scrollable right in the search results. These features aren’t yet available in the current version of Google Photos, but look out for them in future updates.
This may seem like a small update, but it could really save time and help users find what they’re looking for much faster. Plus, this could just be the start of more filters coming to Google Photos. I wouldn’t be surprised if Google introduces more options in the future. We’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
