Henry Cavill was one of many major cameo appearances in Deadpool and Wolverinein which he plays a variant of Hugh Jackman’s Logan, dubbed “Cavillerine” by the filmmakers. The actor was determined to make his portrayal of a Wolverine variant believable, but in the end he paid the price for his commitment.
Although his screen time was limited, Cavill’s Wolverine memorably had a cigar in his mouth. According to the New York Times Deadpool and Wolverine Director Shawn Levy recounted how Cavill kept the cigar “lit and in his mouth” throughout the entire eight-hour shoot. Levy revealed that Cavill’s method acting with the cigar made him very sick the next day, but no one could have guessed that this would happen during filming, as Cavill never showed any signs of being unwell.

In a separate interview with Variety, Levy also said of the big cameo: “When we talk about him, we have to call him by his actual name, which is Cavillerine, which Ryan (Reynolds) coined. “We really wanted a real wolverine, the animal, and it would tear Deadpool apart,” Levy said. “But we came up with the idea too late to create a convincing digital wolverine, so I have that one in reserve in case I need one for a sequel.”
