UUntil now, there was no way to show your love for the Pittsburgh Penguins while, for example, checking out a copy of Toni Morrison’s “Manchild.”

The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh is ready to change that.

At the Summer Reading Extravaganza this Sunday, the library will introduce a new, limited edition library card that will be Pittsburgh Penguins FoundationThe card, featuring the friendly team mascot Iceburgh, is only the second limited edition library card in the organization’s history.

The unveiling, conducted by a group that includes library president Andrew Medlar, district manager Sara Innamorato and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation executive director Yvonne Maher, will take place this Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at the library’s main branch in Oakland. It is part of an all-ages celebration that will also feature breakdancing and circus arts performances, ice skating lessons from Steel City Roller Derby, the Taylor Allderdice Marching Band and more.

The event is free, as are tickets, while supplies last. Library members at the Oakland branch can sign up for their Penguins card on-site after the unveiling; a limited supply will be available at other branches starting Monday.

What you can borrow with your new card: The library system has several copies of the autobiography of Penguins favourite Phil Bourque. Listen to some locker room stories.
