iRobot’s excellent Roomba Combo j7 Plus is cheaper than ever for Verge readers

Basic robot vacuums can speed up the cleaning process, but they don’t do much for hard floors. If you want a robovac that requires less work, consider the Roomba Combo j7 Plusthat can mop your floors and has an automatic emptying station. The j7 Plus offers similar features to our favorite Roomba, the Roomba Combo j9 Plus, which is also available from Wellbots for $979 ($420 off) when you use the offer code VERGE420 at checkout. Both feature a retractable mop that can lift itself up to keep your carpets dry, as well as two rubber roller brushes that are very good at getting dirt out of carpets. Plus, both have AI obstacle avoidance that allows them to deftly navigate between shoes, clothes, and anything else you might have lying on the floor. The only notable differences between the Combo j7 Plus and its newer counterpart are that the Combo j9 Plus can refill its own mop tank, offers slightly longer battery life, and has iRobot’s newer dirt sensing feature that allows it to focus on dirty areas.

Granted, neither of them mop as well as premium models like the Dreame X40 or Roborock’s S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which cost nearly $2,000. However, the Combo j7 Plus and j9 Plus are significantly cheaper at retail right now and have been proven to be easy to repair, making them a great investment that should last for many years.
