Jaipur: The Ministry of Public Health and Engineering (PHED) will unveil JalMitra portal and a mobile application designed to revolutionize the way consumers interact with the department.
Inspired by the state government’s successful e-Mitra portal, the JalMitra platform will provide consumers with a comprehensive package of services, streamline processes and increase transparency.
PHED Secretary Samit Sharma explained the department’s vision to simplify application and payment processes for consumers while providing easy access to important information related to Water supply. The JalMitra App and the portal will serve as a one-stop solution, enabling consumers to apply for new connections, lodge complaints, view the utility plans of their respective areas and pay their bills conveniently online.
Responding to concerns raised by Hawa Mahal MP Balmukundacharya during the recent Parliament session regarding irregular water bills, PHED officials acknowledged the challenges posed by the current paper-based billing system.
The department aims to address this issue by introducing monthly e-invoicing through the JalMitra platform.
However, the transition was hampered by incomplete data on registered mobile phone numbers, which consumer Identification Numbers (CIN) throughout the state.
Despite initial hurdles, PHED remains committed to implementing the JalMitra app and portal as it recognizes the potential to alleviate the inconvenience faced by consumers due to irregular and accumulated bills.
By leveraging digital solutions and optimizing processes, the department aims to create a more efficient and user-friendly ecosystem for water supply management in Rajasthan.
