Jenna Ortega could have “used her words better” in her comments on Wednesday

Jenna Ortega has responded to criticism she received for her comments on Wednesday.

The actress plays Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series and said during a podcast appearance that she wanted to protect the character so much that she changed some lines, which led to some tense conversations with the writers.

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, she addressed the criticism that was directed at her because of this, admitting that she did not explain the situation very well, but that the intensity of the resistance was difficult to bear.

“To be honest, I think I probably could have described it all better. I think I’m often a bit of a chatterbox.

“I think it was difficult because I felt like if I had presented the situation better, it probably would have been better received. Everything I said seemed so exaggerated… It almost seemed dystopian. I felt like a caricature of myself.”

“You can never please everyone, and as someone who is naturally driven to please everyone, that was really hard for me to understand. Some people might just not like you… and that’s totally fine. Last year, I got fed up with myself.

“My face was everywhere… so it’s okay, if I had opened my phone and seen the same girl with some stupid quote or something, I would have gotten over it too.”

This month, Ortega was also confirmed for a new and currently untitled project from director JJ Abrams. Details about the project are currently being kept under wraps, but we do know that Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters fame will also star.
