(August 7, 2024, 9:33 p.m. ET) Students, teachers and administrators working at Jackson High School over the summer received a nice bonus on Wednesday.

They were treated to Mediterranean food thanks to food suppliers from Taher’s Jackson Public School and the Center for Family Health.

The Center for Family Health partnered with JPS for several events this week as part of National Community Health Center Week.

Chef Danny Saghir began preparations for Wednesday’s lunch, which will include chicken shawarma pita with tume garlic sauce, a bowl of falafel rice and batata harra – spicy potatoes.

Saghir was called to a family emergency on Tuesday evening and the meal was completed by Chef David Hampton and the staff of Taher Food Service – JPS’s food supplier.

A CFH staff member distributed small items to the students and asked them to have their parents fill out a form so that the organization could provide health care to students in the JPS buildings.

As part of the Meet Up, Eat Up nutrition program, students received free food. Adults paid $5 for their meal at the event.
