BENGALURU, India, August 12, 2024 — Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), the world’s largest provider of IT infrastructure services, today announced the opening of a Security Operations Center (SOC) in Bengaluru, India. The center will provide comprehensive support and advanced protection capabilities across the entire cyber threat lifecycle, leveraging artificial intelligence, particularly machine learning, and integrated automation systems.
According to a 2023 DSCI report, Indian respondents experienced over 400 million cyber threats detected across 8.5 million endpoints, averaging 761 detections per minute. In the same year, cyberattacks and data leaks caused Indian companies to lose $2.18 million in revenue, according to a study by Ponemon. India’s digital landscape is growing, but it also poses significant risks, especially for companies looking to modernize their business by adopting new technologies.
The Bengaluru SOC is designed to be a cyber defense center that operates 24/7, providing cyber threat intelligence and incident response, and collaborating with Kyndryl’s global network of cybersecurity experts. Kyndryl offers a hybrid model that allows organizations to selectively outsource certain cybersecurity functions or fully outsource the end-to-end management of their cybersecurity operations to Kyndryl. It will also be a cybersecurity management center of excellence with specialized skills, certifications and experience in cybersecurity platform management, as well as technologies to support security events, operations management and monitoring.
Kyndryl’s SOC capabilities include multi-tiered incident monitoring, malware labs, threat hunting, and security information and event management (SIEM) that monitor and correlate security events. The SOC has high-level cyber engineering that analyzes evolving indicators of compromise and incident impact to provide customers with critical insights. The SOC also helps ensure compliance with government data privacy regulations and adapts to evolving cyber threats and regulatory requirements.
The SOC is supported by Kyndryl’s Security Operations as a Platform (SOaap) capability. SOaap is a single, unified digital platform that provides a centralized view to monitor, detect, prevent, and respond to the latest cyber threats in real time, in an agile deployment and collaborative approach with Kyndryl’s global partner ecosystem. SOaap is integrated with Kyndryl Bridge and enables Kyndryl to provide enhanced visibility, risk, and threat management across a customer’s entire IT to more quickly determine threat impact while streamlining the required orchestration between IT operations and cybersecurity operations.
“We address the critical security challenges faced by C-suite executives, the need for improved operational efficiency, compliance with evolving security regulations and integration of new technologies. Our focus is on managing increased workloads, responding to dynamic business requirements and defending against an expanded attack surface. With the Indian government’s strong focus on data security policies, we are committed to leading the way with innovative and responsible enterprise resilience services to make India a cyber security nation,” said Lingraju Sawkar, President, Kyndryl India.
“Kyndryl recognizes the importance of addressing two key issues today: the rapid increase in digitization and the strong emphasis on security and resilience. With the rapid shift to cloud and hybrid work environments, the number of complex cyber threats and vulnerabilities has increased. The SOC will monitor, identify, prevent and respond to these threats immediately. This system demonstrates Kyndryl’s commitment to advancing our technologies and helps organizations achieve the best outcomes while maintaining control of their data and information security,” said Kris Lovejoy, Security & Resiliency Global Practice Leader at Kyndryl.
“At Microsoft, security is our highest priority. As cyber threats become more sophisticated, we and our partners remain committed to building a safer future by leveraging the latest technologies and generative AI tools to stay ahead of the bad guys. Establishing Kyndryl’s SOC in India is an important step in our collective efforts to counter the rise of cyber threats and strengthen security,” said Anand Jethalia, Country Head, Security, Microsoft India and South Asia.
Kyndryl Security and Resiliency is focused on cyber resilience solutions that can provide support and protection across the entire threat lifecycle: risk identification, incident detection, determining appropriate response and mitigation strategies, and data protection and recovery in emergency situations.
