BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Rock Scissors Paper Salon in Clarksburg has been serving the local community for nearly 15 years. During that time, they have done their best to ensure their customers continue to leave the salon with a smile and style. As kids prepare to return to school, the salon wants to help them look their best next week by offering both free and discounted haircuts. Outgoing owner Teri Sigley hopes to not only inspire local youth for the upcoming school year, but also add to her long list of contacts in the local community.
“It’s a connection with my clients. I know they come here and we laugh and sometimes we cry; and we really get to know each other on a deep and personal level. Then when they leave, they always feel good about how they look. They come here and I can give them something they can’t get anywhere else.”
If looking pretty on the first day of school isn’t exactly enough to motivate your child, perhaps a sweet treat from one of the best shops in the area will help.
“Looking good, feeling good, that’s our thing. When you look good, you have confidence and feel good. Our friends at Pearl’s Parkview have decided to partner with us and give away a free ice cream cone to everyone who comes in for a haircut.”
Although the salon has become an important aspect of life for many people in the community, it is still a hidden gem. But next week is all about giving back to the community they call home.
“I’m a mother of high school students. When you participate in extracurricular activities, you get to know kids other than your own. And you get to know the financial situation. A lot of high school students either have to pay their bills at home or take care of everything themselves. So we wanted to offer free haircuts to high school students because they may not have the opportunity to go somewhere and get their hair cut really well. And that’s exactly what we can offer them.”
