The start of the 2024 Hardin County Fair is less than a month away.
One of the changes at the exhibition center this year concerns the trade and machinery building.
Marketing and Communications Director Kolt Buchenroth calls it a reorganization of the space: “To make a long story short, what we already know, like the crops and vegetables, the FFA exhibits, that were always in the Machine Building or the Junior Fair Building, we’re basically changing that so that a lot of the booths in the Merchant’s Building are now in the Machine Building. The exhibits I talked about, high school art and things like that, are going into what we’re going to rename the Youth and Ag Center.”
The Hardin County Fair will be held September 3-8. You can catch the in-depth discussion with Buchenroth and Jozie Winegarder, treasurer of the Junior Fair Board, on WKTN on Public Eye on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. and Sunday at noon.
Here is the full press release from the trade fair board:
Regular fairgoers will notice that the merchants have new locations next year. The building known for years as the Merchant’s Building will be renamed the Youth & Ag Center.
While a select few vendors will remain at the center, the majority will be located in the Machine Building, taking up space previously occupied by vegetable, high school art and FFA projects, expanding the existing Machine Building footprint.
“This is really an effort to give our youth organizations more space to showcase their hard work,” said Brad Murphy, president of the Hardin County Fair Board and chair of concessions. “Meanwhile, our partner vendors have been eager to move to a new location and continue to engage with the community as customer traffic increases.”
The 4-H booths will remain at their traditional location.
