Motorists have been warned that they may face delays over the next three months as work to upgrade a £1 million railway bridge in Glasgow is due to begin.
To facilitate the upgrade of the bridge over the railway on Dalsholm Road near Kelvindale station, temporary lane closures will be in place from Monday to November this year.
The bridge will be strengthened by carrying out masonry work, replacing missing masonry, removing vegetation and erecting a new fence.
For the entire duration of the three-month project, there will be a single-lane road closure with four traffic lights.
There will be traffic disruptions on Dalsholm Road, Cleveden Road, Skaethorn Road and Temple Road, but train services will remain unchanged.
Stephen Orr, project manager at Network Rail, said: “We have worked with Glasgow City Council to plan and carry out the work required and have found a way to do this without having to close the road completely.”
“We recognise that disruption to the road network is never ideal, but by carrying out a comprehensive repair and maintenance programme on the structure, we can ensure it remains operational for longer without further significant intervention.
“We thank everyone for their patience and will complete this work as quickly as possible.”
A temporary complex will be established behind Maryhill Station for the duration of the project.
