New Harrier petrol engine – spy photos
Well, it looks like we might see the Harrier petrol very soon. Yes, the brand is currently busy with the launch of the Curvv SUV, which is scheduled for August 7, 2024. On the other hand, Tata Motors is also focusing on other SUVs, including the new Harrier petrol. Recently, one of our keen readers sent us the spy photos of the upcoming Harrier petrol! But how could we guess that it is the petrol model?

From the spy photos, it can be difficult to judge whether this is the Harrier EV or the Harrier petrol. However, there are a few key factors that confirm that the SUV is a petrol model. Earlier this year, we received spy photos of the Harrier EV fitted with aero alloy wheels. However, in the recent spy photos, the SUV appears to be fitted with the regular alloy wheels of the diesel model.
The other clue that made me believe that the SUV is a petrol model is the positioning of the fuel cap. Now, one might think that the fuel cap on the test SUV is a charging port. But the fact that the Harrier EV is based on the Acti.ev platform, which offers the charging port on the grille, clears all our doubts! However, the Harrier EV is also in the works and is expected to launch in late 2024 or early 2025.

What else?
As for the new petrol engine, the new 1.5-litre TGDi engine is capable of producing 168bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. The engine is likely to be mated to manual and 7-speed DCA transmission options. Apart from the new petrol engine, the SUV will continue to offer the same package as the diesel model. We also don’t expect any changes to the exterior or interior of the Harrier petrol. As for the price, the Harrier petrol could be much cheaper than the diesel variant. Still, we expect the Harrier petrol to cost between Rs 1.6 million and Rs 2.9 million (on-road, Mumbai).
