She was born February 27, 1947 in Farmers Valley, PA. She graduated from Madison High School. She was a secretary at Calhio Chemicals in Perry, senior plant secretary at Euclid Chemical in Madison, an elementary school teacher at Baptist Temple Christian Academy in Painesville, and was co-owner, with her family, of Guv’s Family Restaurant in Fairport Harbor, Ohio. Shela was married for 51 years to the love of her life, Daniel Boyer of Madison. She had one daughter, Carrie (Jeff) House of Mentor on the Lake, OH; nephews, David (Michele) Underwood and Kenneth (Evelyn) Underwood of Maryland and Jeremy (Jennifer) Spring of Texas. She had the most beautiful smile and the kindest heart. She was a member of the Country Baptist Church in Mentor, OH. Shela was preceded in death by her parents Guy and Vieva, her brother Vance Underwood, her sister-in-law Pearl Underwood, her sister Shirley Underwood, her nephew Jesse Spring, and two babies she will finally hold for the first time in heaven. She was the most wonderful wife and mother God could give anyone. She suffered for many years from debilitating arthritis, as well as heart, lung and kidney problems. But Shela never complained and always put others before herself. The family would like to thank the David Simpson Hospice of the Western Reserve for their wonderful, compassionate care during the last few weeks and especially her dear nurse Sherron, who we will never forget and for whom we will be forever grateful. Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River Street in Madison. The funeral service will be held immediately following at noon at the funeral home. Reverend Ed Simmons, Jr. and Reverend Jim Henderson of Country Baptist Church will conduct her funeral service.
