RJ’s opinion: Watched a bunch of Toledo Rockets who had won 11 in a row and were coming off a 23-14 victory in the Mid-American Conference title game to cap an 11-win season.
Chuck Martin has assembled a club that is greater than the sum of its parts. He rose from offensive assistant in 2018 to defensive coordinator in 2022, virtually refusing to go all out on fourth downs and relying on a defense that allowed turnovers and prevented points.
They are not sexy. But they work, and that is enough to win a second championship.
