Margao/Vasco: As Restoration work of the railway lines between Sonaulim and Dudhsagar stations in Braganza Ghat Section Rail traffic along the Goa-Karnataka route remained paralyzed.
Railway sources said work to shift the damaged wagon was already underway and would be completed on Monday, barring any delays due to rain.
They said the wagons were fully loaded with cargo and moving them was a problem. Since the freight train derailed near a tunnel, space constraints on the movement of people and machinery are also affecting the restoration of the tracks.
Relief trains with 140-ton cranes and other essential equipment were dispatched from Vasco and Hubballi. A specialised reconstruction team was deployed to handle the situation and carry out rescue operations.
The Yesvantpur Express to Bengaluru has been cancelled while the Hazrat Nizamuddin Express to Delhi has been diverted from Margao railway station via Konkan railway line,” a railway official said.
The Amravati Express from Kolkata was sent back to Shalimar from Hubbali railway station.
Senior SWR employees are closely monitoring the progress of the restoration work, railway sources said.
