San Juan College has been recognized by the National Security Agency for its work on a joint cybersecurity education program and has been awarded several classifications.

The program includes several initiatives conducted at community colleges, four-year colleges and universities.

Along with the award, SJC was presented with the Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity Cyber Defense designation for the Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology program with a Cybersecurity Support Certificate.

The IT program at SJC teaches topics from network support to cybersecurity tools, as well as the knowledge and skills needed for CompTIA and Microsoft certifications. The entire program can be completed online and in as little as 18 months.

Institutions that receive the CAE-CD designation have met the rigorous requirements of the program sponsor, the National Security Agency.

San Juan College is the only two-year institution in New Mexico to receive this distinction.

The designation indicates that the SJC helps reduce threats to our national infrastructure by promoting higher education and research in cyber defense and providing the country with a supply of qualified cybersecurity professionals.
