drake was the talk of social media on Tuesday, and not for the reasons he has been talking about it for most of the summer: Coincidentally, in the middle of the afternoon, Toronto MC shared more than 100 GB of unreleased content from the last 15 years of his music career and titled it “100GIGSFORYHEAD.”
These files contain various things, such as unreleased songs, unused concepts for album coversFootage of him recording his most famous songs and even of him playing table tennis with NBA star Stephen Curry a few years ago.
Drizzy shared much of the content on his Finsta account on Instagram.
As with everything The 6 God has done this year, there was a lot of commentary on social media about the random content Drake decided to share with the world. Some people liked the new content, others criticized it.
The leak raises the question, why now? While hip-hop fans have repeatedly stressed that Drake in his legendary hip-hop battle with Kendrick LamarPeople close to him told him that the outcome of the argument did not particularly bother him.
Last week, during a Interview with the “Flagrant Podcast”, Yachty spoke about Drake’s state of mind since the fight ended, saying, “He didn’t give a shit, he was really unfazed… That shit didn’t bother him. Like it should be, he’s the damn guy.”
It is naive to say that he has remained unimpressed since the most popular song of the summer Is call him a pedophilebut you could also say that Drake only released this “100GIGSFORYOURHEADTOP” because he has always been the kind of artist who is more open to fans than he should be.
But he is also just petty. For example, in one of the video filesDrake talks to his mother about the 2016 song, “Too good“ and says that the track is about Serena Williamsthe same person with whom K. Dot had forbidden him to speak, on “Not like us.”
In another file shares footage of him and Rihanna rehearsing for a live performance of their popular collaboration, “Watch out.” He shoots her baby’s father, A$AP Rocky, in “Family matters.”
Maybe he just wanted to show his fans a different part of himself, but I highly doubt that was the only reason.
