“Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink has made a cryptic comment about the future of her character Max Mayfield.
The character was at the center of the drama in the season four finale when Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) killed her in the Shadow World. She was subsequently resurrected by Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), but still remained in a coma when Hawkins was attacked.
With production on the fifth and final season currently underway, it remains to be seen how Max’s storyline will unfold, and Sink certainly held off on giving any hints and remained tight-lipped about it in an interview with Variety.

“They love letting me run. I won’t say anything more,” she teased, and the series creators, the Duffer brothers, also remained tight-lipped, noting: “She will play a role in the season. But we don’t want to give away how that’s possible.”
However, they did give a preview of Sink’s performance in the upcoming season, praising her, saying, “We shot a scene with her the other day that was just absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t know how she hits those notes.”
While Sink remains tight-lipped about the details, the actress, who joined the Netflix series in the second season, looked back on her time on the show and shared her surprise at how well Max was received by fans.

“I really didn’t think people would be so interested in her journey. But I still thought, ‘This is cool,'” she said. “I think I’m definitely numb to a lot of things now, which is a good thing. I think it gives you stability.
“I worked all last week and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I forgot how hard this show is.’ Here, you’re a team player. It’s not about me (or) anyone else. It’s about the show and what’s best for it.”
Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 are streaming on Netflix. A fifth and final season is in production. Stranger Things: The First Shadow is now available to book until February 2025 at the Phoenix Theatre in London. Tickets are now available.
