WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Good teachers are important. In Woodbridge, we are fortunate to have teachers like Kelly Ammiano.
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize teachers and show them how much they are valued and appreciated.

How do you know the teacher?
she is my mother
What does this person teach?
She is a reading specialist
Why do you think the teacher should be recognized or honored?
My mother is probably the kindest person I know. It all started some time ago when one of her students told her she didn’t like the weekends. My confused mother asked why and was told she really doesn’t eat anything on the weekends. This was just unacceptable to my mother and from then on she started giving the child food to take home. Over the years this has developed into a whole project that the school participates in. After school breakfast and lunch, after meals there are bins where the children can donate the food they don’t eat. It is collected and sorted and given to families who are food insecure. Not only that, but since then she has set up small food pantries all over the city that she fills weekly. There are many people who go and fill them throughout the week. There are still families whose children no longer go to her school that she regularly brings food home to.
What do you think everyone should know about the teacher?
She takes care of families even when their children have left their building.
