The BBC’s The Repair Shop once again moved viewers to tears as a grandfather and his stepson told the story of their tragic loss.
When Grandpa Quentin and his stepson Tim Stockwell entered the iconic barn, they were keen to restore an item that Tim’s son Miles had bought for his grandfather. The enchanting decoration Quentin received in 2014 was a precious garden bee decoration.
The garden bee was broken and, because it was made of tin, had been “affected by the elements.” But when speaking to the experts at the repair shop, Quentin revealed that Miles had lost his battle with osteosarcoma – an aggressive form of bone cancer.
Miles unfortunately died at the age of 15, just a few months before filming this episode.
When Quentin explained what Miles had been through, he was visibly upset and burst into tears.
Since he couldn’t finish his sentence, Tim bravely took over the floor.
He said: “Eighteen months ago, Miles was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a very aggressive bone cancer, and subsequently had to have his leg amputated. He was a very athletic boy, so it was horrific to see him go through that.”
“He did it like he did everything in his life, with enthusiasm and the thought: ‘I can do this!’ But unfortunately he lost the battle against cancer. He was 15,” explained Tim.
After hearing the heartbreaking story, fans of the show shared their thoughts on the rerun.
