He played Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible franchise for years, and Tom Cruise brought Hollywood to the Olympics closing ceremony with a series of impressive stunts.
Cruise’s big moment came when the speeches came to a close and US R&B star HER played the American national anthem “Stars And Stripes” on her guitar.
During the flag handover to Los Angeles, where the next games will take place in 2028, Cruise then descended from the roof of the Stade de France in Paris to make the occasion as spectacular as possible.
After hanging from the disc-shaped roof 42 meters above the ground, the actor was greeted on his way to the stage by a crowd of fans, all eager to take a selfie.
After greeting the Olympians in the audience, he shook hands with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass before accepting the Olympic flag from her.
Cruise, 62, then hopped on a motorcycle – of course – and took the flag on a joyride out of the stadium.
The ceremony cut to pre-recorded footage of the action star touring the French capital, racing past Parisian landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower before arriving at the airport.
After boarding the plane, one could see Cruise parachuting out of the plane and later landing in America.
The star then carried the flag to the famous Hollywood sign, which was decorated with Olympic rings, and then handed it over to US cyclist Kate Courtney.
Oh, by the way, of course he wore his trademark leather jacket the whole time.
Cruise’s hair-raising series of stunts was followed by a much more relaxed performance by a number of high-profile California natives who offered a taste of what is to come in four years.
After being passed between several US Olympians, the Olympic flag reached the famous beach where the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed their hit Can’t Stop.
The rock band then handed over the stage to Billie Eilish, who delivered a sweet rendition of her new song “Birds Of A Feather.”
Wearing an oversized t-shirt, shorts and a baseball cap, she was accompanied by her brother, producer FINNEAS, on guitar.
Finally, Snoop Dogg, who has performed at various events surrounding the Olympic Games, took the stage to perform his classic “Drop It Like It’s Hot” with fellow US rapper Dr. Dre.
