The Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis brings secrets to the stage in “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”

When you think of a “circus,” you probably think of the largest circus company in the world, Cirque du Soleil. Although this French-Canadian company has been entertaining people all over the world for 40 years, there are other circuses. Italy is playing for your hearts with Cirque Italia, an “aquatic spectacle.” The show has a special water stage and stunts that really dazzle as the performers dive in, fly above the water, and show off their skills in the water. Pink is coming to St. Louis; here are the 20 best Pink songs of all time

Dru Hill hit the airwaves in the ’90s with hits like “In My Bed” and “Never Make a Promise,” but the quartet also shaped R&B’s visual iconography with their music videos. Sisqó’s blonde hair, the whole group in black harmonizing together, and the liberal use of kites defined the group’s look. (It also gave us Sisqó, who rose to fame with “Thong Song.”) These smooth jams were sexy and damn cool. Rosalind Early

These days, Waino is making a name for himself as a country singer and seems to be just as good at pulling off surprises in his new career as he was in his old one. It was recently announced that he will be performing a concert at the Stifel Theater next February, where he will be accompanied by a band with lots of violins — you know, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. In the near future, however, he will be playing songs from his debut album, “Hey Y’all,” in a more likely venue — on the main stage at the Washington (Missouri) Town and Country Fair. Kids of the 80s will remember Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale’s first appearance on MTV, becoming an instant teen heartthrob (those cheeks! That hair! Those abs!) as he sang pop-grunge-rock hits like “Machinehead,” “Comedown,” and “Everything Zen.” And they were all straight off the band’s first album, Sixteen Stone. Rossdale and his crew went on to release two more successful albums, so this concert will definitely be “packed,” as the band was one of the best-selling of the 90s. By Rosalind Early

John Fogerty has a lot to celebrate. This is his first tour since the rocker acquired the rights to his catalog of songs. And of course, there are the songs he wrote as a member of the swamp rock band Creedence Clearwater. So there is indeed a lot to celebrate. By Rosalind Early

Anyone who has seen the Bravo series “Queens of R&B” will be surprised to see SWV and Xscape on tour together. On the show, the two bands had planned to work together, but argued so much that the project seemed doomed. The Black Bird Strings from St. Louis want to shake up classical music and highlight black composers

THURSDAY

Green Day – The Saviors Tour

  • When: 18:45, August 15
  • Where: Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre
  • How much: $101 to $490
  • More info: www.livenation.com

Green Day recently angered MAGA supporters when frontman Billie Joe Armstrong held up a Donald Trump mask during a concert. One Twitter user called it a “severed head” and tried to get the band banned. The controversy is nothing new for the punk rockers, who also changed a line in their 2004 song “American Idiot” from “I’m not part of a redneck agenda” to “I’m not part of a MAGA agenda” at a New Year’s Eve show in early 2024. Elon Musk even commented on it. But after overcoming Armstrong’s addiction issues, the band isn’t letting a few political opponents slow them down. By Rosalind Early
